Question of the Week: Do you read more than one book at a time, and, if so, how, like a certain amount of pages per book before moving on to the next one in the queue?

I didn't always used to read more than one book at a time, because I felt like I was sort of cheating on the book that I was originally reading and also, because I felt like it would distract me from the actual current book I was reading. Now, it's not really that hard, because while I'm reading one book (usually a review eGalley that I've received from either Netgalley or Edelweiss) on my Kindle, I am almost always reading a physical book off of one of my shelves.

This usually happens, because I am such a mood reader and whatever I feel like reading at any given moment, I usually tend to switch to and then I'll go through a process of switching back and forth between the books while reading. If I'm trying to catch up with review books and eGalley's, then I'll usually try and read a couple of them at a time. I usually read about 5 to 6 chapters in one, before I'll switch over to the other and read about the same amount of chapters in the other.

Sometimes if I'm really into a book, then it'll just be that particular book that I'm reading and I won't bother to pick up another and try to read it too. Like right now, I'm in the middle of devouring the Nova series by Jessica Sorensen and I'm reading Saving Quinton, the second book in the series. I'm trying hard to power through it, because I have an upcoming book tour that I'm going to be part of regarding the newest book releasing in it. So, I really need to get through them.

So, tell me, do you read more than one book at a time and how does it work for you? Leave a comment below (with the links so I can follow you) and link up to your Feature & Follow Friday post!

  1. I seriously find this to be amazing! I wish I could read more than one book at once! How do you keep yourself from mixing up worlds and characters?

  2. I can only read for up to 3 books, but usually 2. :) I'm not as organized as you when reading. Perhaps someday I will be able to force myself to get organized. Haha! :)

  4. Heehee! Nice! Nearly everyone so far has said similar things! Me, I can't do it. No matter how much I may want to. I always stick to one book at a time. Generally though I always enjoy the book I'm reading to some extent because I bought it for a reason!

  9. I am a mood reader too and that is a lot of the reason why I have more than one book going at a time that and with my audios I can have one in the car while I am reading from my kindle, etc.

  10. Thank you so much for the shout out for my blog! :D
I am pretty much the same way. Though I don't really have a page count. I usually read whichever of the books I am in the mood for. Though I really try to keep the Kindle books for bed time and on the go.
Thanks for stopping by my blog! :D

  11. I'm the same way. I'm usually reading a book off my shelf at the same time I'm reading a review book on my Kindle/phone. It's not so much because of my moos but just because I can't only focus on one book.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my post. And no offense taken about audiobooks. I'm an auditory learner so it actually helps me comprehends things a lot better. But they're not for everybody. I'm glad you've given them a try though!

    Happy FF! Old follower.

  13. That is very talented of you. I can not do that at all. I get so immersed in the book I can't focus on other books. Lucky for you that you can since I'm sure you get a lot of reading done. Thank you so much for sharing. New follower. Loving on your color scheme!

  15. Yeah, I'm exactly the same way, Suz. I don't know when it happened, but when I look at Goodreads or Booklikes, there are always two or three books on my 'currently reading' shelf there.
Have a wonderful weekend and happy reading.

  16. I guess my moods stay the same. Once I'm into a certain book, I don't want to shift to another. Whatever works, right? Thanks for stopping by!

  17. Old Follower :) Thanks for stopping by my blog.

I do have the same feeling! I'm a mood reader as well and what I'm currently reading very much depends on the mood I'm currently feeling, I always focus on one book instead but wouldn't mind be distracted if the book im currently reading is too bored, or the other book I'm reading is as good as the one I'm holding!

  18. Thank you for visiting my blog and following. I never used to read more than one book at a time either. I always figured I would get confused going back and forth between the books. But now reading at least two at time is a must. Following you back via GFC.

  19. The opposite for me. I'd read more than one book but now, not anymore. I am a mood reader as well and I'm now in a bit of a reading slump. *sigh*

Thanks for stopping by and for following. Following back via GFC.

  20. You've pretty much summed up my whole entire take on this question. . .no seriously. I tend to ignore a book wholly if the other one grabs my full attention. Also, I review for NetGalley too, so those are the general books I read on my Kindle, while the physical covers are ones I personally picked at the library or ones I've purchased :)

    I hope you've had a lovely weekend Suz! :)

  21. I read multiple books too. I guess if one book really catches my interest I'll read that one alone, but if a book does that for me i'll usually finish it in a couple of days, so I'm not usually reading just one book for long.

  22. Yep! I agree - with all the review copies coming in, you have to read more than one at a time.

  23. Yeah I totally hear ya. When I read so many (as I am now) it kind of gets to be a chore, or just something to do (read book #1, then book #2, etc) and that takes away from the enjoyment. I'm reading tons now but plan to cut down. Thanks for stopping by my blog!

  24. Kindle and a book... I understand the inclination to do both. Especially when a book is heavy to lug around.

  25. There are just so many books to read! Go books, though! Old GFC follower! Thanks for stopping by! Happy reading!
