Top 10 of 2014: Best Book Boyfriends

Welcome to Day 4 of the Top 10 of 2014
A Week of looking back...
...And looking forward

I love it when it comes around to this time of year and I get to look back on all of the books that I've read and all of the things that I've experienced in some form or another having to do with books, which is why I think it's incredibly awesome that Jaime @ Two Chicks On BooksMindy @ Magical Urban Fantasy ReadsNancy @ Tales of a Ravenous Reader, and Rachel @ Reading YA Rocks are hosting this fabulous week of book nostalgia. I'm kind of bummed that the creators of this amazing yearly feature won't be able to take part in it this year, but hopefully next year Lisa @ Life Bound By Books and Jessica @ Confessions of a Bookaholic will be back with us all. Much love to all of the girls and their incredibly amazing blogs, for taking the time out to put this yearly event together and host it for us.

They are also hosting an equally AH-MAZING GIVEAWAY that if you've signed up to be a part of this and to participate, you can go HERE to grab the button, sign up, and also fill out the Rafflecopter to be entered into the giveaway. The week is going to last for five consecutive days (December 22nd to December 26th - a Monday through Friday) where we'll be sharing our favorite lists via a different prompt for each day and all you have to do is go to one of the blogs listed above on each of those days and post your url into the linky list so everyone else can see your "favorites" list and so you can get credit too. Just double check and make sure that you have the right post with the correct linky list, in order to get the credit for participating and playing along.

Today, I get to talk about none other than my amazing book boyfriends of 2014. Yay! I'm so excited that I get to share the 'book loves of my life', with all of you. I've got 'em, you've got 'em, we've all got 'em and they all have this crazy little way of getting up underneath our skin. So, I thought I'd talk about a few of mine....

Best Book Boyfriends of 2014
(+) Honorables...

1.) Warden from The Bone Season series by Samantha Shannon. I love Warden, because right from the start he's intriguing, dark, mysterious, and such a marvelously complicated character. Aside from Malek in Exquisite Captive, he's probably one of my favorite male characters I've read this year.

2.) Theron from Snow Like Ashes by Sarah Raasch. This was one of those books where I kind of knew that you were supposed to sort of root for Mather and while I liked him, I actually ended up liking Theron a lot more and that was quite a pleasant surprise for me. Seriously, this is the right boy for Meira. He's charming, sweet, and when he looks at her you can feel his burning desire for her. Guys, he's definitely worthy of being a book soulmate!

3.) Malek from Exquisite Captive by Heather Demetrios. Oh my, MALEK! I love this character so hardcore, it's hard to even put into words how much love I have for him. He's such a dark, complicated, and twisted character with many facets and flaws that make him one of my favorite characters in the book and definitely at the top of my "best book boyfriend" list. I genuinely do believe that Malek does love Nalia and he does have a soft spot for her, a weakness, if you will and it's not just about ownership and trade. Can we say "unhealthy relationship" on many levels and this time, I'm so okay with that it's unreal. lol.

4.) Cole St. Claire from Sinner by Maggie Stiefvater. Where I do even, with Cole St. Claire?! Oh my goodness, I love how dark, edgey, and complicated Cole St. Claire is. Cole has made and continues to make so many mistakes in his life, his emotional issues run much deeper than they were ever explored in the Wolves of Mercy Falls and it's heartbreaking to watch his struggles throughout Sinner. Yet, it's one of the most beautiful aspects of the book, how he tries his best to navigate the complicated waters of his relationship with Isabel, reconcile with his past, and rise above everything else.

5.) Daniel from Prisoner of Night and Fog by Ann Blankman. This guy is definitely brave, passionate, and full of so much courage given the fact that he's Jewish during a time when Jews are being beaten, tormented, and killed. He is just so amazingly kind, generous, unafraid to speak his mind, and openly honest that it hurts to read about all of the crap he's had to endure.

6.) Jonah Walker from As You Turn Away by Molli Moran. Jonah Walker is one hell of a swoon-worthy, southern sweetheart that you can't help but fall in love with. Right from the start, he's from the wrong side of the social tracks, but he has this heart that's so big and this fierce protectiveness when it comes to his family and the people (Quinn) that he loves. Just your basic good ol' southern boy that'll keep you warm at night.

7.) The Gentle Lord in Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge. I loved this character, because he a bit of a mystery and because of the passion that he showed for Nyx. He wasn't exactly what I was expecting and it was definitely refreshing. He's definitely easy to fall for, because he doesn't necessarily define "asshole" even when he isn't being the kindest. There's a sort of question mark that surrounds him, because how do you define evil and what is it necessarily that would potentially make him evil? I just loved him, because he was a charming riddle wrapped up in an enigma.

8.) Thorne from Cress by Marissa Meyer. Well, this goes without saying. lol. If it was at all possible, I would so steal Thorne away from Cress because this guy is just amazing in so many ways. Do I even need to begin to tell you?! lol. He's just a really great guy!

9.) Morpheous from Unhinged by A.G. Howard. I LOVE THIS CHARACTER! If I could little fairy like hearts around this guy and keep him chained to me, I totally would. lol. He's dark, he's complicated, and he's so full of wonder and mystery. Seriously, he's one of the most extremely sexy and frustrating men I've encountered in all of the books that I've read this year and I adore this Moth Man more than any. I never really considered myself team!anything, until I read this book and it was so clear to me that it's MORPHEOUS!

10. Flynn Cormack from This Shattered World by Amiee Kauffman and Megan Spooner. I think Flynn is a fantastic character and definitely worthy of being one of my book boyfriends. He's an emotionally driven character who believes in his own cause and who will definitely fight with everything he is to protect whoever he cares about.

And the Honorables...

1.) Warner from Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi. Oh Warner, from the beginning of this trilogy I have always had a fondness for him and I didn't realize just how much I LOVED HIM until I read Unravel Me and  Ignite Me and then aljdfadlkfadlkjfads! <--- Yeah, that just happened! I can't even with him...just! ahdfaljdfaljfd.

2.) Chaol/Rowan from Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas. I can't talk about book boyfriends unless I mention both Chaol and Rowan, because HOLY FREAKIN' CRAP GUYS! Rowan was such a surprise to me, it's unreal how much he stole my heart in Heir of Fire and you know I've always been a huge fangirl for Chaol.

3.) Finn from Illusions of Fate by Kiersten White. Oh Finn, you are a truly fantastic character that I love to pieces. Ahhh, he was just so amazing in so many ways, and I completely fell in love with him. I love how he was so determined to stand against the war, he didn't just fall in line with the majority. He stood up for what he believed in and he didn't care whether anyone knew it or whether it would end up hurting him at a later date. Strength and bravery like that are definitely good qualities to have in a book boyfriend.

And there you have it, my favorite book boyfriends of 2014.
Do you have any? If so, let me know in the comments!
