#025 Follow Friday featuring Favorite Character Names

FOLLOW ME FRIDAYHappy Follow Me Friday, everyone! The long and short of it, life is crazy and reading is my life, basically. So, yeah this feature is awesomesauce. Go visit Parajunkee's View or Allison Can Read, to get the deets on it and start having some fun. It's all about meeting some new people, finding new blogs to follow, and basically just having fun with awesome people.

This week the two awesome features are Evolet @ Beefcake & Babes and Aparajita @ Le Grande CodexThese two girls are just as awesomesauce as their blogs, so definitely show them some love! :D

THE QUESTION OF THE WEEK

"I like unique names for characters and am looking forward to coming up with some when I start writing. What’s the most unique character name you’ve come across?"

This is an interesting question, I like it. Though it's got me itching my brain a little bit, trying to decide which names to pick. I know that I absolutely love Donia, Irial, and Aislinn from Melissa Marr's Wicked Lovely series. But, I also think that Syrenka from Monstrous Beauty is a gorgeous name as well.

  4.  Hi, new follower here! :)

Ever since I've heard about Monstrous Beauty, I was giggling to myself. Why? Because Syrenka is a Polish word (I'm Polish) and it means... mermaid. No kidding. Little Mermaid is "Mała Syrenka" in Polish. So I'm greatly amused by it and I wonder how the author came by this word. ;)

  13. Aislinn is such a pretty name, but I think my favorite out of the series was Donia, because I haven't heard anything like it before and because there was a bitterness tempered against sweet with her somehow. The name definitely fit her personality, but that's totally cool about your friend. *g* Thank you, so much for the follow and am returning the follow, too.

  14. Ooh, I loved the answers that you gave in your FF post, especially the unique spelling for "Faith" - Faythe. I've definitely got to get around to reading that RV series. lol. Thanks so much, for stopping my hops! :)

    Happy Weekend!

  15. Oh, thank you so much for the follow! :)

That is interesting, I wonder if she meant for that to happen or if when she was doing her research for the character she realized that "Syrenka" is a Polish name. Obviously the book deals with mermaids, so there had to be some research done there, it was beautifully written. :)

  20. Oh my gosh, I KNOW! Melissa Marr came up with some of the most beautiful names in the Wicked Lovely series -- not only Donia, Irial, and Aislinn, but Keenan and Seth too! <3 They're all so beautiful :) Amazing picks for the question this week, Suz!

  21. Mimi, it's great to see you back in my blog again. I've kinda missed talking with you! *g* Keenan and Seth are really great names, too. And Keenan's mother, I can't remember her name it escapes me, but that was kind of unique and sort of wonderfully original. *g*

  22. Keenan, is such a great name. Beira, I think is his mother, that was an interesting and unique name as well. Thank you, so much for the follow! :)

  24. Thx for stopping by my FF!!!  :-)  Syrenka is cool, I think. Rolls nicely off the tongue!

  25. Awesome, thanks. *g* One of my other followers told me that "syrenka" is actually mermaid in Polish, which I thought was kind of cool since Monstrous Beauty is sort of a dark gothic and mysterious mermaid tale. :)

  27. Aislinn is such a gorgeous name, although I can't figure out how you would pronounce it. I want to almost say that it would be something like Ashlinn or something like that, not sure. lol. You're more than welcome, I really enjoyed what I've seen of your blog so far, can't wait to get to know you.

    Thanks for the follow. :)
