Mackenzie and Amy were best friends. Until Amy was brutally murdered.

Since then, Mac’s life has been turned upside down. She is being haunted by Amy in her dreams, and an extremist group called the Trackers has come to Mac’s hometown of Hemlock to hunt down Amy’s killer: A white werewolf.

Lupine syndrome—also known as the werewolf virus—is on the rise across the country. Many of the infected try to hide their symptoms, but bloodlust is not easy to control.

Wanting desperately to put an end to her nightmares, Mac decides to investigate Amy’s murder herself. She discovers secrets lurking in the shadows of Hemlock, secrets about Amy’s boyfriend, Jason, her good pal Kyle, and especially her late best friend. Mac is thrown into a maelstrom of violence and betrayal that puts her life at risk.

Kathleen Peacock’s thrilling novel is the first in the Hemlock trilogy, a spellbinding urban fantasy series filled with provocative questions about prejudice, trust, lies, and love.

  1. Ah, there are so many I'm looking forward to.  Mostly sequels like The Evolution of Mara Dyer and Unravel Me as well as the new books by Kody Keplinger and Stephanie Perkins.  :)  Why?  Because these authors write amazing books!

  5. Gosh, that's a hard question.  Ironically HEMLOCK was a debut I was WAY excited for (and like you, I loved it.)  I guess right now I'd have to go with Shadow and Bone!

My top 2012 debut was Under the Never Sky, and I read it earlier this year and LOVED it! Definitely a lot of great YA debuts coming out this year that I've seen in general.

  12. There are way too many!  I've been fortunate to read some of them already, but as for the ones I haven't yet, The Dark Unwinding by Sharon Cameron is high on my list.  She's a local author and has written a steampunk novel, two things I am always thrilled to check out!
