I have way too many series that I've started, but haven't finished for whatever reason and this is a list of those I plan to finish this year.

Lies We Tell Ourselves is an eye-opening, heartbreaking, and beautifully written novel that will leave an everlasting impression on you.

#030 Teaser Tuesday featuring Fever by Lauren deStefano and The Girl In The Steel Corset by Kady Cross

This meme is brought to you weekly by MizB over at Should Be Reading.

Anyone can play along, just do the following:

01. Grab your current read and open to a random page
02. Share two (2) "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page, but BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away! You don't want to ruin the book for others!)
03. Share the title and the author, too, so other TT participants can add the book to their TBR List if they like your teaser!

“Our footprints emerge from the ocean, like ghosts are roaming the beach. I like that. We are the ghosts of sunken countries. We were once explorers when the world was full, in a past life, and now we're back from the dead.” (pp's 1 & 2)

Rhine and Gabriel have escaped the mansion, but danger is never far behind.

Running away brings Rhine and Gabriel right into a trap, in the form of a twisted carnival whose ringmistress keeps watch over a menagerie of girls. Just as Rhine uncovers what plans await her, her fortune turns again. With Gabriel at her side, Rhine travels through an environment as grim as the one she left a year ago - surroundings that mirror her own feelings of fear and hopelessness.

The two are determined to get to Manhattan, to relative safety with Rhine’s twin brother, Rowan. But the road there is long and perilous - and in a world where young women only live to age twenty and young men die at twenty-five, time is precious. Worse still, they can’t seem to elude Rhine’s father-in-law, Vaughn, who is determined to bring Rhine back to the mansion...by any means necessary.

In the sequel to Lauren DeStefano’s harrowing Wither, Rhine must decide if freedom is worth the price - now that she has more to lose than ever.

“What had happened to make him so angry? And just how strong was he that he could make a house this size tremble by slamming a door? She wouldn't stand a chance against him, even if her darker self took over.” (623 of 4872 ;; 12%)

In 1897 England, sixteen-year-old Finley Jayne has no one except the "thing" inside her.

When a young lord tries to take advantage of Finley, she fights back. And wins. But no normal Victorian girl has a darker side that makes her capable of knocking out a full-grown man with one punch...

Only Griffin King sees the magical darkness inside her that says she's special, says she's one of them. The orphaned duke takes her in from the gaslit streets against the wishes of his band of misfits. Emily, who has her own special abilities and an unrequited love for Sam, who is part robot; and Jasper, an American cowboy with a shadowy secret.

But The Machinist wants to tear Griff's little company of strays apart, and it isn't long before trust is tested on all sides. At least Finley knows whose side she's on, even if it seems no one believes her.

I am IN LOVE with both of these wonderful books. I'm extremely excited to be reading an ARC of Fever and have been reading The Girl In The Steel Corset on Penelope my brand new shiny Kindle Fire that I got for Christmas, which I love to death. They're both so different from the other, yet so very intriguing and I cannot wait to wax poetic about them both in up-coming reviews.

#023 Waiting On Wednesday

Waiting On Wednesday or WoW! "Waiting On" Wednesday (or ya know WoW!) is a nifty little weekly event, hosted by the ever so lovely Jill at Breaking The Spine that puts the spotlight on various new and upcoming book releases that have become the"ohmigod! i gotta have this or i'll just die," eagerly anticipated novels to adorn your shelves.

This week, I've chosen the next book in Lauren DeStefano's The Chemical Garden Trilogy, Fever. I know this book is going to be freaking amazing and I cannot wait to read it. I LOVED THE FIRST BOOK. The review for it, will be coming within the next couple of weeks. I've somehow gotten behind a little bit and I'm trying to catch up, at the moment.

Also, don't forget to enter my GIVEAWAY for an ARC of Carrie Jones, After Obsession. It's a fantastic read and I know that if you liked her Need series, you will absolutely LOVE this book as well. It's totally a gem.

Okay, I just have to say that I love books that deal with polygamy, because I love learning everything I can from a completely curious perspective about it, the history of, and just Mormanism in general. I was HIGHLY ADDICTED to the show Big Love when it was on air and I've watched as many movies and read as many books as I can get my hands on, regarding polygamy. The first novel, Wither, was utterly astounding and I know this follow-up novel is going to be simply fantastic.

#010 Third Sentence Thursday

Third Sentence Thursday

Third Sentence Thursday is a nifty little weekly meme hosted by Sniffly Kitty's Mostly Books.

1) Take the book you are reading now and post the third sentence
2) Review this sentence anyway you want (funny and silly reviews encouraged)
3) Post a link to your sentence here or if you don't have a blog, just post it in the comments!

My Third Sentence Thursday comes from Lauren Destefano's debut novel, Wither. Thanks to Jenny over at New Books For New Bloggers. So far, I'm really enjoying it, and I can't wait for the next book in the seriesFever to be out in early 2012.

Age Demographic: Young Adult

"We sleep huddled together like rats, staring out, and dream of our bodies swaying." (pp 01)

What if you knew exactly when you would die?

Thanks to modern science, every human being has become a ticking genetic time bomb—males only live to age twenty-five, and females only live to age twenty. In this bleak landscape, young girls are kidnapped and forced into polygamous marriages to keep the population from dying out.

When sixteen-year-old Rhine Ellery is taken by the Gatherers to become a bride, she enters a world of wealth and privilege. Despite her husband Linden's genuine love for her, and a tenuous trust among her sister wives, Rhine has one purpose: to escape—to find her twin brother and go home.

But Rhine has more to contend with than losing her freedom. Linden's eccentric father is bent on finding an antidote to the genetic virus that is getting closer to taking his son, even if it means collecting corpses in order to test his experiments. With the help of Gabriel, a servant Rhine is growing dangerously attracted to, Rhine attempts to break free, in the limited time she has left.
