She has her suspicions though...and, if she is right, it will spell certain ruin for her and Caden. She won’t last long enough to realize that though, if Viggo and Mortimer uncover the treasonous secrets she keeps from them– that Veronique is now free of her entombment and in the torturous clutches of the Witches and the Sentinel or that she is protecting a Sentinel within their very midst.

Always the naive human caught in the midst of the vampires’ web of deceit, Evangeline is now weaving her own dangerous web in order to keep her friend alive, rescue Veronique, and stop a seemingly inevitable war from starting. But can her honourable nature handle the depths of duplicity for which she must go to be in league with the Vampires?

ALLEGIANCE
The MYTHOS BEHIND THE CAUSAL ENCHANTMENT SERIES

Thank you to A Soul Unsung for hosting me for the Allegiance Tour. You asked me to describe the mythos behind this series. That is a very good question! When I began writing ANATHEMA, I knew I wanted magic and vampires. That was about the extent of the "world" (I wish I had a deep response but I don't. I kind of sound like a seven year old...).

From there, the universe of all universes was born. I'll try to explain the basics in the most simplest of terms because it's hard to describe 275K worth of a world into one small post J I also don't want to reveal too much about the plot.

At the very top are "The Fates" (I'll note that there are hints of a higher power but nothing has been revealed yet...). The Fates are the beings who govern over the worlds. They are all powerful but they are also bored, which makes for some not-so-nice decisions. The reader finally gets to meet the Fates in ALLEGIANCE. I think those scenes are some of my favorite in this series.

The paranormal creatures - your common vampire and werewolf - as well as the unique abominations like the Tribe and Wraith, are all created at the hands of the Fates in response to Causal Enchantment spells cast by powerful sorceresses like Sofie. These responses are typically nothing like the sorceress has requested, the Fates taking the need and twisting into something accurate but so perverse in nature that no one comes out happy. Except for the Fates, because it's one big game for them. A game where each one vies to win with their "pawns". Okay, really... that's all I'm going to tell you.

The other key to this world is that anything goes. There is no such thing as gravity, time, and finality of death when it's in the hands of the Fates. They can move people from one world to the next, they can erase memories, transplant bodies. They can even bring people back from the dead. J

If you want to know more about this world, grab the series and start reading.

Thanks for hosting me today!

There is so so so much to love about this book as Christine Fonseca brilliantly pens an intriguing mysteriously suspsenseful adventure full of beautiful dark gothic romance, danger, and amazing imagery that any reader is sure to fall in love with.

In Transcend, all seventeen-year-old composer Ien Montgomery desires is an escape from his family's rigid expectations for his life; someone to inspire his music. When he meets a beautiful violin-prodigy, Kiera McDougal, his life music takes on new life. With her, he imagines a future outside of his parents’ control. That is, until a horrible accident tears them apart.

Sent to die in a sanatorium, Ien’s obsession for Kiera grows unbearable. Tortured by thoughts he can’t escape and the truth of his monstrous disfigurement, he flees, desperate to exact revenge on the people that ruined his life – his parents. But, vengeance is empty. Betrayed by those closest to him, Ien discovers that the price for his happiness may be his sanity.

Set amidst the landscape of New York's Gilded Age, and inspired by Phantom of the Opera, TRANSCEND exposes the fine line between love and madness.

Book Excerpt from
Transcend by Christine Fonseca

When Transcend was in its infancy, I played around with different stories and different points of view before really shaping the story into what it is now. One of the earliest versions featured a dual first person POV, alternating between Ien and Kiera. In this scene, we see, from Kiera’s POV, Ien’s accident and her reaction when she arrives on scene.

(**Note, author split the scene into three posts, see the link at the end for the next post).

Transcend Book Excerpt by Chrstine Fonseca

Stop by My Head Stuck In A Book for the continuation of Kiera's scene.

Blog Tour Review & Guest Post for Return To Arethane by Kelly Riad

Return To Arethane by Kelly Riad
Age Demographic: YA Fantasy

16-year old Emily has accepted her fate with each weakening beat of her heart, but after her best friend's brother and sister arrive in town and turn out to be more than what they appear, Emily's life is turned upside-down. When their friendship includes confronting wizards who harbor dark secrets and dancing with an elf prince, Emily discovers there are some things still worth living for.

My Thoughts on Return to Arethane
by Kelly Riad

Return To Arethane is a magically rich and splendid tale of fantasy, full of excitement, adventure, dark mysterious discoveries, and so much more to offer. The story unfolds naturally and the imagery that Kelly Riad captures with her beautiful lyrical prose, is astounding and captivating. There are truly some beautifully written fantasy elements woven into the fabric of reality that true fans of young adult fantasy fiction will find incredibly fascinating. The world Riad creates is stunningly dark, terrifying in some aspects, full of epic battles, gorgeous romantic overtones, and a Dark Elf King hell bent on besieging the kingdom. It is truly a world that reader's can get lost in.

The twists and turns will have reader's gasping and on the edge of their seats, anticipating what's to come next. The characters are brilliantly developed and easy for reader's to connect with. While most are likable, there are some that aren't so much. Those types of characters only add more depth and layer's to an already wonderful tale of mystical fantasy and mischief. There is so much that this story has to offer, that I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fantasy novels full of wonder and excitement. It isn't a book that should be missed out on and it's such an amazing fantastic ball of wow.

Building Worlds: Creating the Mythology
by Kelly Riad

Elf mythology is one that has been well documented; people have always had a fascination with elves in all their varying forms and in spite of the overwhelming influence of Tolkien. There are still people in Greenland and Norway who blame equipment malfunctions and such on displeased elves. So finding bits of information on the creation and religion of elves wasn't difficult. What I wanted to do with what was already out there, though, was add a touch of realism to the myth.

Elves are considered highly evolved creatures - they live for immeasurable amounts of time, have incredible memories and from that, have wisdom and tolerance. But the extreme of that knowledge can push to the other side and you get someone like Karawyn who, because of having the benefit of first-hand accounts of her species' origins, is self-righteous and smug when dealing with humans and their own bumpy journies seeking enlightenment. I wanted to take the best of all believers and non-believers and embody them in these elves - like Jarrad and Dafne.

They have the gods that are the origin of their creation, but also have reverence for nature and the science of things. They are tolerant and accepting; while mirroring that with some of the extremes, like we see with Jabari. So a lot of the belief systems of the elves ultimately are analogous to what we live with everyday; or at least analogous of what we all wish we could be.

Book Review for Never Say Never
By Kailin Gow

Kailin Gow is back in action again with a rockin' contemporary sure to set the young adult stage on fire! It's intensely captivating, full of life and love and growth, along with some unexpected curveballs that life throws Never's way. Never Say Never is an emotional rollercoaster ride full of thrills, lots of fun, and a little sexy. It's a wonderfully fun mature young adult romance sure to ignite anyone's world a blaze.

Never is such a wonderfully flawed and realistic character brought to life in such an amazing way that makes it extremely easy to relate to her, to connect with her story, and to enjoy all of her minor flaws. She could be a drama princess with everything handed to her on a silver platter, but that's not at all who she is. She's incredibly determined to get what she wants on her own in her own way and she fights hard to make it happen. She isn't interested in hand-outs from her father. The boys in the band are just as amazing as Never is, too. Luke, Kyle, and Steve are a bit different, which gives them unique appeal of their own and lends depth to the band and story itself. The difference in their personalities, style, and friendship are what makes the band's dymanic such an enjoyable reading experience. Everyone gets their time to shine in Never Say Never and that's pretty amazing because it lends so much personality to the book itself.

The romance just sizzles and pops to life off the pages. It's ridiculously forbidden and sweet hot fun. The chemistry between Danny Blue and Never is electric and it's so much fun to witness the awkward tension between two of them. The feelings that Never is experiencing are all new to her and she can't decide whether to break her cardinal rule of not dating anyone in the band or just go for it with all she has. It's fascinating to watch her navigate through her own personal feelings. Yet here is the one guy who has literally tilted her whole world on its axis and has her practically dangling by a thread. So, what is a girl to do?

The character's are wonderfully entertaining, the storyline is engaging and highly addicting, and the realism is sure to draw reader's like a magnet. Kailin Gow spares no expense in showing off just how amazing her writing chops are with this new mature young adult romance hot off the presses! For those who want a sizzling romance that burns hotter than most, this is the book for you.

NOCTURNAL BY CHELSEA M. CAMERONBOOK #1
By Chelsea Cameron

Seventeen-year-old Ava-Claire Sullivan isn't one for doing the expected. Especially when she finds out her mother's cancer is terminal. After a crying session in the local cemetery where she's attacked by one strange guy and saved by another, she doesn't call the cops. Because those guys definitely weren't your average hooligans.

And the one who sort-of saved her? Well, he's odd. He doesn't seem to breathe or smile or have anything better to do than wait in the cemetery for Ava to come back. Which she does. Call it morbid curiosity. Even after he warns her that he's dangerous, she can't stop wanting to see him, talk to him, be with him.

There's something about Peter that provides a much-needed escape from her mother's diagnosis and her tenuous relationship with her father. Even her best friends Jamie and Texas don't know what it's like to face death. But Peter does. He already has. He also made a promise a long time ago that could destroy both of them.

When everything in your life is falling apart, what are you willing to give up to hold onto the one thing that could last forever?

NIGHTMARE BY CHELSEA CAMERONBOOK #2
By Chelsea Cameron

Ava-Claire Sullivan still doesn't follow the rules. She shouldn't have let Peter Claim her, turning her into his own personal blood bank. She shouldn't have told Tex Peter was immortal because now her best friend won't shut up about hooking up with Peter's equally immortal brother, Viktor. And she shouldn't have fallen in love with Peter.

Too late.

Sometimes, love kills. One promise Peter made nearly a hundred years ago could do it. A kiss, a touch could be the end of him. So all she has to do is not let him fall in love with her. Easier said than done.

But Ava's going to find a way for him to be free, even if it kills her. Or makes her immortal. There's no way she's losing Peter in addition to her mother. No freaking way.

What would you do when the one you love would die if they loved you back?

Review for: Nocturnal
by Chelsea M. Cameron

Wonderfully unique and full of mysteriously dark magical charm, Nocturnal is the start of an intriguing tale of paranormal romance. With interesting dynamic, well written and developed characters, and suspense this is a book sure to please any paranormal fan. It's an emotionally driven novel, with powerful mystique sure to draw them into its web. Reader's won't see the twist coming and will enjoy it even more. Nocturnal possesses so many wonderfully elements that lends the story incredibly depth, blending realistic contemporary themes with historical and supernatural realms full of wonder and exitement.

Giving vampires a new unique originality and appeal, Chelsea Cameron has penned a hauntingly realstic and captivating world with a hint of the supernatural tinging the pages. She writes with truly amazing vigor and passion, that reader's will be entranced by the beguiling mystery as it unfolds on the pages before them, and will find themselves lost within the story. The interesting array of characters cast for Nocturnal, are richly dark and intensely compelling, fun, and definitely likable and easy to connect with. They are filled with many vivid unique fascets and personality quirks of their own, that help to make them stand out and add flavor and appeal to the story. Each of them blend into the story and has a purpose, and not one of them is less important than the other.

Ava-Claire Sullivan is an amazing ball of spark and fire. Filled with sarcasm and wit, she is just a world of fun. Her reaction to learning that her mother's cancer is terminal, is incredibly human and deeply heartbreaking. At times, she can be a bit frustrating, but this is part of what makes her character enjoyable - the fact that she's flawed in all of the right ways necessary for her to grow and develop through out the story being told. Chelsea Cameron managed to breathe so much life, not only into Ava, but into her whold cast of characters adding more depth and multi-complex depth to Nocturnal. This novel is sure to strike a chord with any paranornal contemporary fan.

The romance is beautifully written and slow burning, the kind that is deeply intriguing and full of wonderful spark. It is refreshing to watch Ava and Peter become deeply enamored and drawn to one another, at such a natural pace. The moment that Ava discovers Peter's true identity is incredibly tense, so real and alive, that it practically leaps off the pages in a tidal wave of real human emotion knocking reader's breathless with despair and greif, fear and fascination, and shock. The realism within these pages is so overwhelmingly written with care and intense emotion, that reader's can't help but be fascinated with the unexpected twists and turns.

As with any book, there were a few minor drawbacks or mild frustrations, but overall Nocturnal is the start of a wonderfully intriguing and deeply beguiling paranormal contemporary that is sure to wow any reader who indulges in novels such as this one written by, Chelsea Cameron.

What paranormal fan wouldn't like to dive into this awesome series?

Ava & Peter Playlist
provided by Chelsea M. Cameron

She has two books out now, Nocturnal and Nightmare, the first and second books in the Noctalis Chronicles about a girl with a dying mother who meets an immortal boy. The third book, Numb will be out this August, and the fourth in the winter. Her other book, Whisper, about a girl who is alive, a boy who isn't and the complications that go along with their relationship, released June 16 and is the first in a trilogy. { This digital copy was provided by Chelsea M. Cameron, in exchange for an honest review which I have provided here in this post. No money has exchanged hands, as I review books for fun simply because I love to read and share my thoughts on them with other's. I am not interested in receiving any monetary gain at all for any of my thoughts.}
